NKRs Rec: Roughing the Passer by @stephk0525

Roughing the Passer by stephk0525

Summary: Oklahoma University QB and draft hopeful Riley Biers is on the precipice of a promising NFL career. His childhood dreams are about to materialize, yet Riley's thoughts are consumed with rival Florida QB Jasper Whitlock. Addition to Fandom4SAA o/s.
Rated: M - Romance/Drama - Pairing: Riley & Jasper

In my (vast?) knowledge of Twilight fanfic, canon and non canon pairings, I am almost certain this is the first boy/boy multi chapter fic I've read. I know. I know. It's shocking really. I do have other slash fics on my list of to be reads though. And there has been random one-shots, and maybe a flounced chaptered fic or two, but nothing I've ever fallen in love with. Does this mean that Steph popped my boy slash cherry? I guess it kinda does.

Roughing the Passer started out as a one-shot, but with some encouragement Steph has decided to extend it. Everybody say YAY! Go ahead, I'll wait while you cheer.

*twiddles thumbs*

Ok. So. Jasper and Riley are two college football players trying to get drafted to the NFL. *wiggles eyebrows* I know, right?? They are delicious, from the get-go. Or should I say, from huddle? Or locker room? Ah, the locker room *eyes glaze over*

Ahem. Sorry.

But seriously, who doesn't love hot boys pining over other hot boys in their yummy uniforms. I'm kind of jealous of both Riley and Jasper, to be honest. There is so much tension between the two of them that you could cut the air with a knife. Come on! Really. Football boys. Foot. Ball. Boys. In tight pants. In locker rooms. Making eyes at one another. Having hot, naughty sexy times. It will make you break out the smelling salts, take a cold shower, or... I don't know, just want to leave a review begging her for more? Any of those works.

I can't tell you how much giggling I do as soon as an alert hits my inbox. And lucky for you, it's just a few chapters in so you can start reading now... and then wait with the rest of us, trying not to check your email a million times a day, hoping for more Rough guys. I promise, you definitely will love these two. A lot.

'Scuse me while I go re-read some (or all) chapters.

NKRs Rec: Hair of the Dog by @MJinAspen

Hair of the Dog by MJinAspen

Summary: AH. "I need a ride. She's throwing baked goods." Sometimes personal growth is the best HEA. Take a few peeks into the volatile, passionate, and occasionally sweet love affair between Edward Cullen and Leah Clearwater.
Pairing: Edward/Leah - Rated: M

OK. So. If I could just rec every fic written by MJinAspen for the next few weeks, I would do just that. I love love love her writing and her pairings. I can't really choose a favorite story by her but I'm doing my rec on this one because it's COMPLETE. Mhm, I know how some of you feel about reading a fic that is a work in progress. Which, I totally get!

Hair of the Dog is the first Edward/Leah fic I read all the way through. I'd tried others in the past and I just couldn't get into it. I just never read Edward when he's not paired with Bella. BUT. HotD is captivating. MJ has such a lovely style of writing and a beautiful way of telling a story that I was hooked immediately.

Leah and Edward have a rocky relationship that isn't always sunshine and roses. Not that there aren't sweet moments too, because there are. And yummy, hot ones too. Edward has his issues and Leah is tired of dealing with them. She's had it with him. So it's either Edward goes, or she does. She makes the choice for both of them.

A huge part of their relationship failing is that neither of them says how they feel. Edward does thing just to piss off Leah; to see if she cares at all or if it's just sex for her. Leah has a raging temper so, of course, she reacts. Boom goes their relationship. And that's all in chapters 1 and 2.

Most of HotD is about their journey and their personal growth. While I am usually hard core "IT MUST HAVE A TRADITIONAL HEA" - this is not exactly like that. But don't turn away! Because it does have a HEA, just a different type than we are use to. And I think that's why I loved the fic so much - it was different and original and creative. Just beautiful.

I don't want to spoil anything for you because you really do need to read this. It's short, for those of  you that stay away from super long fics. And really, you won't read anything like it anywhere else. I can't praise MJ and her skill enough. GO. Now.

MF6s Recs: Unattached by TwilightGrace23 (@nikki_loo_hoo)

Unattached by TwilightGrace23

Summary:
After finding herself suddenly single, Bella meets Jacob - a Marine on leave in Seattle who's about to ship off to Iraq. Can their relationship last through a deployment and all that comes with it?
Rating: M - All Human
Pairing: Jacob/Bella

So…I usually only rec oneshots on Misfics because if I want to rec a multi-chaps, I have to read it entirely again before writing anything on it. Needless to say, I really don’t have the time. But I found this fic yesterday and read it in one go. It was just SO good I couldn’t let it go away without without telling you all about it. I also don’t understand how I didn’t come across it earlier. I mean, I love Marine Jacob. There’s just something about him being in the army that gets to me.

I can already hear some of you cringe because the fic is All Human. I know some of you just can’t read Twilight fanfiction if it’s All Human. Sometimes, I’m the same. I like my Jacob to be part of a tribe, to be completely and totally Native American (which means NO stubble, guys, no stubble.) and I like Bella when she’s clumsy and all. But just like the two characters fell in love instantly, well, I couldn’t stop reading this fic. You see, Bella just broke up with a guy and her neighbor tries to play matchmaker. She wants Bella to meet her grandson. Bella absolutely doesn’t want to until she meets the grandson (or more exactly, the step-grandson, if you can even call it that way). Here, enters Jacob. They like each other from the beginning. The problem? Jacob’s about to go back to Iraq for a year. They only have one week to spend together.

I love how afraid they both are to admit their feelings because they know that they’re going to be apart for a very long time but they both realize that if they don’t take a chance then they could miss on something wonderful. I even loved Alice in this fic, which is saying a lot because I despise vampire Alice. Human Alice is good. I like her. It was hard to see that Bella didn’t get along with her family but Jacob’s always there to help, even if he’s thousands of miles away. Another thing that I loved and made me laugh a lot is that Bella doesn’t think before talking. And she even says things that she just meant to think and keep for herself. I find this funny since it’s something that I do, too. And it’s kind of embarrassing when it happens to you.

And I feel like I’m saying it all the time but come on! Jake’s a Marine. You shouldn’t need to know more to want to read the fic. Jake’s a Marine! I was hooked by this fact from the moment I read the summary and so should you ;)

NKRs Rec: The Agent by @CharTwilightMom

The Agent by CharTwilightMom

Summary: One Shot written for the Dirty Talking Jasper contest. Agent Jasper Whitlock moves into The Bradley, where the connected and protected live. But what happens when what's between his head and legs, gets into his assignment. AU/AH/OCC,M for lemon of course
Rated: M - Pairing: - Jasper & Alice

The Agent is a one-shot but the awesome CharTwilightMom. It follows Jasper as a government agent in charge of protecting Alice, niece of the US President. She doesn't know that she's being watched and guarded. Jasper takes the time to get to know her neighbors, and Alice.

As time passes Jasper finds himself drawn to her and befriends Alice on a more personal level. The pull they each feel for one another is undeniable and grows until it's almost unbearable.

A few hot dates and even yummier moments together and mmm hello Jasper/Alice sandwich.

I have to admit that usually and in general I am not a Jasper fic reader but seriously, CTM did a wonderful job telling Mr. Agent Man's story. I definitely recommend this one for it's beautifully written words and for how well you get to know Jasper. It's incredibly hard to let the reader into a characters life when you are writing only a one-shot. CTM does it fantastically.
